The issue of Women’s Safety is a serious global concern due to the growing number of reported harassment and violence incidents
occurring in public areas. This research study identifies how a Smart Safety Wearable Device was developed as a method of
providing real time emergency response capabilities as well as alleviate stress associated with personal security for Woman. This
unique approach combines various technological components such as an Arduino based microcontroller, heartbeat sensor, GPS
Tracking module, and panic button into a design that maximally utilizes size and light weight and is easily affordably available for
all users. Users have the option of manually sending an emergency alert just by pushing a panic button or automatically triggering
the emergency alert through continual monitoring via the heartbeat sensor that picks up on physiological signals indicating distress.
When the device triggers, the user interface will provide real time location and emergency message information to the user’s
predetermined contact list or authorities, allowing immediate action response. The design is geared towards ease of use and is
adaptable in many different public locations such as within the confines of a Public Transportation System, an Employer’s work
environment (i.e., office), and a Marketplace or Store.
