Scientific Communication Assets: A MonksHillLab look book
This collection is an integral part of the MonksHillLab initiative (Working group for Ecophysiology and Water and Matter Cycling (ECO) of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF)), which aims to democratize science by enabling low-cost, DIY environmental monitoring. Just as the initiative provides open-hardware designs to close the gap between research and field implementation, this "look-book" provides the visual tools necessary to communicate that research with professional clarity.
Why Non-AI and PowerPoint? To remain consistent with the MonksHillLab mission of accessibility, all assets are created exclusively in PowerPoint using standard and custom shapes. By deliberately avoiding AI-generated graphics, we ensure:

Technical Accuracy: No visual "noise" or anatomical errors common in generative AI.

True Editability: Users can modify technical details (e.g., sensor placement, gas flow paths) directly via the "Edit Shape/Points" function.

Zero Cost: No expensive design software or AI subscriptions are required—only widely available academic tools.
A Living Visual Repository These assets are free, open-source, and designed for reproducibility. As the MonksHillLab initiative grows—incorporating new tools like the "Lab on Wheels" or the upcoming flush-sampling systems—this repository will evolve alongside it.
Contribute & Adapt We encourage users to not only use these graphics but to adapt them. If you create a new schematic for a DIY system or improve an existing one, we welcome your contributions to future versions of this handbook. Together, we are building a practical, evolving resource for scientists, students, and practitioners worldwide.
