The NuSy Brain: A Symbolic-First Neurosymbolic Architecture for Provenance-Grounded AI Beings
Description
The NuSy Brain is a symbolic-first neurosymbolic architecture that eliminates hallucination for provenance-grounded queries while maintaining large language model flexibility for novel situations. Unlike RAG approaches that query neural methods first, NuSy resolves queries against a structured RDF knowledge graph with full provenance tracking, falling back to neural methods only when symbolic confidence is insufficient. The architecture implements a four-layer knowledge model with confidence-based routing achieving sub-100ms response times for known facts, a crystallization loop enabling continuous learning without model retraining, and validation across clinical decision support and software development domains.
