Description
ABSTRACT:
The present study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of a herbal hair lotion using natural ingredients with proven benefits for hair growth and scalp health. Increasing concerns over the side effects of synthetic hair care products have led to a growing interest in herbal alternatives that are safe, effective, and eco-friendly. In this study, a herbal hair lotion was developed using plant-based ingredients such as rosemary extract, curry leaves extract, fenugreek seed extract, clove oil, coconut oil, rose water, and vitamin E, all known for their nourishing, antimicrobial, antioxidant, and hair-strengthening properties. The extracts were prepared using suitable extraction methods including maceration, hydrodistillation, and aqueous extraction. The formulation was developed by combining oil and aqueous phases under controlled conditions to obtain a stable and uniform lotion. Three different formulations (F1, F2, and F3) were prepared and evaluated for various physicochemical and performance parameters such as appearance, pH, spreadability, washability, absorbency, smoothness, skin irritation, and stability. The pH of all formulations was found to be within the acceptable range (5.2–5.7), ensuring compatibility with scalp conditions. Among the three formulations, F3 showed superior results in terms of spreadability, absorbency, washability, and overall stability, without causing any skin irritation. Stability studies further confirmed that F3 maintained its consistency, pH, and sensory properties over time.
