Description
The data sets were created via a data collection effort for the study "Economic analysis of options for improving EU legislative and regulatory frameworks with impact on access and reuse of publicly funded R&I results and of publications and data for scientific purposes". The study was contracted by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Research and Innovation (DG RTD).
This study aims to provide a robust and thorough economic analysis of the current market economics and dynamics, outlining the situation for research organisations and universities with regard to scientific publishers and the economic dimension of open access, as well as the publishing market realities, including an overview of the ecosystem of scientific publication and its contribution to fostering open access and the EU economy as such. The study also evaluated the potential impacts of introducing an EU-wide SPR and strengthening the copyright exception for scientific research, and explored these economic impacts for research performing organisations (RPOs), researchers, scientific publishers, the overall European research ecosystem, and the EU competitiveness and research performance towards the non-EU G7 countries.
The data sets include:
- The raw data of the three surveys (survey 1 targeted at researchers, survey 2 targeted at research-performing organisations, and survey 3 targeted at scientific publishers).
- The bibliometrics data used to describe the situation with regard to open access (OA). Uploaded file on Data documentation supports reading of bibliometric data and its variables.
