This report identifies a structural distinction in the mind upload problem that most frameworks collapse into a single capture problem: the difference between the mind pattern (the informational structure of the individual mind, including invariants, choice signatures, and boundary behavior) and the receiver (the substrate properties of the specific brain that runs that pattern, including neurochemistry, receptor density, and signal propagation physics). The pattern is the "what" of the person. The receiver is the "how" of instantiation. They are coupled but not identical, and solving only the pattern capture problem may produce structural fidelity without phenomenal preservation. This distinction maps directly onto the separation between Pattern Continuity and Phenomenal Continuity already established in Bidirectional Tether Theory (BTT) and sharpens it by identifying a specific mechanism through which pattern fidelity alone may be insufficient.
