Ruminosignatures across cattle breeds
Description
This dataset contains the abundance tables underlying the study “Ruminosignatures associated with methane emissions and feed efficiency across geographies and cattle breeds”, in which we analyzed the rumen microbiota, from cattle belonging to five different breeds and production systems across five countries, categorizing them into microbial co-abundance groups referred to as Ruminosignatures.
In addition to the original input file for each cohort, the dataset includes the H and W matrices obtained through the Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) approach. The W matrix represents the contribution (weight) of each genus to each Ruminosignature, whereas the H matrix describes the abundance of each Ruminosignature across samples. The reference W matrix and the corresponding Ruminosignature definitions enable, through the NMF pipeline, the direct projection of independent datasets onto a common microbial reference space without the need to repeat the full matrix factorization procedure.
