AI-Driven Service Blueprints As a New Methodological Tool for HCAI Experience Design

Description

Designing human-centred AI systems presents multifaceted challenges, including issues of transparency, limited AI literacy, and difficulties in collaborative design. This paper introduces the AI-driven service blueprint as a structured tool to address these challenges by mapping the design and integration processes of AI systems. The blueprint facilitates participatory design involving both stakeholders and AI components, while supporting compliance with ethical, technical, and legal standards. The AI-driven service blueprint offers a promising approach to enhancing collaboration, improving understanding of AI capabilities, and promoting the development of more explainable and responsible AI applications. We present this work as a position paper for CHI 2026 workshops, arguing that AI-driven service blueprints can extend established human-computer interaction and service design practices at the conceptual design phase. The contribution is a conceptual framework and critical reflection rather than a fully implemented system, intended to provoke discussion, inspire future prototypes, and inform empirical studies.
