A new method of analysis reveals a statistically significant, complex mortality trajectory at the most extreme ages

Description
We introduce a novel approach to analysis of mortality data that allows Gompertz parameters for age ranges of interest to be computed within tight confidence intervals from far smaller datasets than standard methods require. Using the most comprehensive high-quality data currently available on females who have reached the age of 110, we characterise a previously only tentatively proposed phenomenon, here termed the mortality peak.
