Global open research commons (GORC): Why, What, Where and What's Next

Authors/Creators

Description

The Global Open Research Commons (GORC) International Model (starting with its Essential Elements) has been in development since 2016 within Research Data Alliance Interest and Working Groups. It is now a mature way to guide implementation decisions, a framework for new commons implementers, and a shared language for interoperability discussions. This talk will provide an overview of the GORC approach, its current uptake, and its future plans. It should be of interest to anyone concerned with interoperability within and between DRI.

This presentation was prepared for and presented virtually at the SciLifeLab Open Science Seminar Series on 21 April 2026.
