Description

The increasing spread of ragwort (Jacobaea spp.) means that the hepatotoxic and carcinogenic pyrollizidine alkaloids (PA) and their corresponding N-oxides (PANO) found in the plant may pose a health risk to animals and humans consuming contaminated feed and food. The present study therefore aimed to investigate the transfer of individual PA/PANO originating from a well-defined PA/PANO extract into the milk of 16 dairy cows, which were divided into four treatment groups for a 28-day dose-response study. The files contain data from the animal experiment and the concentrations of individual PA/PANO in milk, as measured by LC-MS/MS. The deposited data consist of two tables and two associated tables containing legends for the data. An overview is provided in the file '00_PA_PANO_milk_overview.csv'.
