Evaluating Locations for Seasonal Thermal Energy Storages

Description

This poster evaluates optimal siting strategies for seasonal thermal energy storage (STES), comparing central and remote locations. It shows that while remote sites can reduce heat losses, these benefits are often offset by higher electricity use and infrastructure costs. The results highlight that investment costs are the main driver of overall system feasibility, with remote locations only advantageous if they significantly reduce construction costs.
