Use Case WeatherIndex: Two-Source Error Propagation for a Dynamic Weather Index
Description
This repository contains an R workflow that computes a per-pixel dynamic precipitation weather index (WI) for winter wheat in Germany during the DWD 15–18 shooting phase, following the framework of Möller et al. (2019).
The key contribution is the quantitative propagation of two independent uncertainty sources into combined 1σ uncertainty layers shipped with every annual output COG:
Source |
Layer |
Origin |
|---|---|---|
Phenological interpolation |
PHASE BAM posterior standard error (BSE) |
Precipitation interpolation |
E-OBS v32.0e ensemble spread (P95 − P5) |
Combined |
Root-sum-square of the two components |
The output rasters are Cloud Optimized GeoTIFFs (COG) on the E-OBS native 0.1° grid, and the workflow generates a RO-Crate 1.2 metadata package with embedded PROV-O provenance and ISO 19157-1 quality elements, ready for FAIR publication on Zenodo.
