Description

ArKG (Archaeological Knowledge Graph) is an interdisciplinary project bringing together researchers from the School of Anthropology, the Institute of Physics, and the Department of Computer Science at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, along with the Millennium Institute Foundational Research on Data (IMFD). Its goal is to organize, systematize, visualize, and openly distribute Chilean archaeological dating data — radiocarbon and thermoluminescence dates — using the MillenniumDB graph database engine, developed entirely in Chile by the IMFD.

Data are structured as an RDF knowledge graph, a global WWW standard, enabling connections to other knowledge graphs on the web (such as Wikidata) and supporting complex, multi-variable queries in a coherent manner. The system adheres to the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), providing long-term traceability and improving dating reportability standards in the archaeological literature.
