Description
This study has developed a modular centrifuge system that is portable, low-cost and does not require electricity. It can be produced using 3D printing technology. The project aims to provide an economical, energy-independent solution for separating biological and chemical samples, particularly in environments where access to electricity is limited or laboratory infrastructure is inadequate. Findings obtained from the experiments suggest that the centrifuge can generate sufficient centrifugal force for basic separation processes at laboratory level, producing results consistent with the 2000×g range specified in the literature. The developed centrifuge supports the ‘frugal science’ approach due to its low production cost, modular structure, lack of energy requirements and ease of replication via 3D printing.
