WRF-Chem_v3.9.1 - Northern South America run for year 2018: Source code and configuration files

Description

This dataset contains the source code and necessary configuration files of a simulation carried out with the WRF-Chem model version 3.9.1. The run is described in a preprint available at https://doi.org/10.5194/egusphere-2026-797

The source code files included in the dataset are the following:

  • WRFV3.9.1.1.tar.gz -- Is a protected copy of the source code as used to run the simulations
  • module_add_emiss_burn_original.F  -- unmodified module in the original WRF-Chem code
  • module_add_emiss_burn.F -- modified module to correctly inject aerosol species at height following the fire plume rise scheme.
  • module_aerosols_soa_vbs_original.F -- unmodified module in the original WRF-Chem code.
  • module_aerosols_soa_vbs.F -- modified module to avoid the reinitialization of existing aerosol fields in restart runs.

Configuration files:

  • namelist.input_d01 -- WRF-Chem configuration file for the outermost domain (D01)
  • namelist.input_d02 -- WRF-Chem configuration file for the intermediate domain (D02)
  • namelist.input_d03 -- WRF-Chem configuration file for the innermost domain (D03)

Output data from WRF-Chem. This is post-procesed, daily output from the WRF-Chem model for the domain D03. The data is organized in netCDF files by trimesters. 

  • WRF-Chem-2018-FINN-d03.tar.gz
    • trim0i_2018_base_d03_allgas_v3.nc -- Daily mean gas-phase species for the WRF-Chem simulation for trimester "i" (i runs from 1 to 4)
    • trim0i_2018_base_d03_allpm_v3.nc -- Daily mean aerosol species for the WRF-Chem simulation for trimester "i" (i runs from 1 to 4)
    • grid_d03.nc -- Grid characteristics corresponding to the domain D03 in the WRF-Chem simulation
    • HGT_LU.nc -- Terrain height and land-use data corresponding to the domain D03 in the WRF-Chem simulation
    • meanPM.nc -- Annual mean PM concentration build from the output files.
