Description
Description / Abstract:
This corrected version replaces the stronger attribution language in the original chapter. The earlier text stated that the child independently defined every term of the equation Em = F c^2 / r^2 and independently placed "distinction" at the foundation of the system. That was too strong. The more accurate record is conversational: Dainton showed the equation; he described Em as energy and mass, F as force or ignition, c^2 as the speed of light, and r^2 as resistance. Malin then proposed RSF-compatible readings - resistant plasma for r^2, and ignition as the first distinction for F - and Dainton was comfortable with those proposed meanings.
The equation therefore remains worth preserving as a family-origin symbol, a catalyst, and a compact mnemonic. But the formal RSF content, mappings, and cosmological claims belong to Malin Hess and to the pre-existing RSF papers. Dainton is credited for the initiating toy equation, the curiosity that made the exchange possible, and his consent to the family interpretation.
Correction notice
The first edition of this chapter over-attributed the formal conceptual structure to Dainton. It implied that he independently supplied the complete RSF ontology of distinction, resistance, causal propagation, and realised local reality. This corrected edition narrows the claim. It records the family conversation honestly and distinguishes three layers: Dainton's initiating symbol arrangement and first meanings; Malin's proposed RSF interpretive assignments; and the pre-existing RSF research programme, already developed across more than twenty papers before this conversation.
