NATMed: GPS tracking and temperature data from water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) collars at Lake Chimaditida, Greece (June–October 2025)

This dataset contains raw GPS tracking and temperature records from 24 water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) equipped with telemetry collars grazing in the Lake Chimaditida area (Western Macedonia, Greece). Data were collected between 11 June 2025 and 31 October 2025 as part of the NATMed PRIMA project, which investigates sustainable Mediterranean livestock-wetland systems.
The file comprises a single worksheet with 118,415 records and five columns: time_stamp (local date/time of the fix), id_collar (unique collar identifier), lat (latitude, WGS84 decimal degrees), lng (longitude, WGS84 decimal degrees), and temperature (collar temperature reading in °C). Collar IDs included: DK022, DK023, DK024, DK026, DK027, DK028, DK029, DK030, DK032, DK033, DK034, DK035, DK036, DK037, DK038, DK039, DK040, DK041, DK042, DK043, DK044, DK045, DK046, and DU970.
The data are provided as-is (raw): a small subset of records contain invalid or placeholder coordinates (e.g. lat ≈ 1.00, lng = 0.00) that correspond to failed GPS fixes and should be filtered out prior to ecological or movement analyses. The dataset supports research on livestock grazing behavior, habitat use, animal welfare (thermal regime), and buffalo interactions with the Chimaditida wetland ecosystem.
