MESA tool version 5.0 beta 2026.04.16
Authors/Creators
Description
This package provides compiled Windows 11 binaries for MESA 5.0 (beta, 2026-04-16), a desktop workflow for preparing, processing, and publishing spatial sensitivity analysis deliverables using the MESA method. Version 5.0 fully replaces all earlier MESA versions and introduces a clearer end-to-end workflow from inputs to published outputs. The distribution includes pre-processed example data from Mafia Island, Tanzania, allowing immediate exploration of visualisation and reporting without additional setup.
MESA 5.0 emphasises an explicit and structured pipeline that guides users through data preparation, processing configuration, computation, and review/publishing. We have moved the user interface to a new GUI library which should make the tool easier to navigate. The reporting system is simplified and now Word-first (.docx), improving reproducibility and easing downstream editing, while advanced cartographic layout remains supported via bundled QGIS projects. A built-in backup/restore utility and lightweight status monitoring improve reliability for iterative and team-based work.
This is still a beta release, intended for testing and feedback. Documentation is almost ready, parts of the interface are still evolving, and calculation or stability issues may occur. Results must not be used for decision-making or production analysis. For method background, workflow details, and ongoing updates, refer to the MESA project wiki:
