SmartJoint: Articulación inteligente multifuncional de accionamiento directo

Authors/Creators

Description

SmartJoint is not a generic motor. It is a complete, autonomous actuation system:

- Direct‑drive motor (no gears, zero backlash)
- Inductive absolute encoder (AS5715R, <0.075°)
- On‑board STM32F405 controller with PID
- 48V / 10A power driver
- Optical fiber communication (1 Mbps serial bus)
- Optional liquid cooling

**Why it matters**

Most robotic joints are either expensive, fragile, or hard to integrate. SmartJoint is open‑source, modular, and cheap. An engineer with a 3D printer and basic electronics knowledge can build a 4‑DoF prosthetic arm for less than 500 USD.

**Key figures**

- Peak torque: 50 Nm / Continuous: 20 Nm
- Weight: 400‑500 g
- Position accuracy: ±0.1°
- 360° absolute sensing
- Control loop: 1 kHz

**Applications**

Robotics / Prosthetics & exoskeletons / Aerospace (flaps, deployables) / Automotive assembly / Defense UGVs / Medical devices / Precision agriculture / Entertainment animatronics / Research & education

**Current status**

Concept fully documented, BOM selected, firmware structure defined. Looking for partners to build the first physical prototype.
