Description

coralfuture.org App

The website is available at https://coralfuture.org/, run by the Voolstra lab. The motivation is to build a global database of standardized thermal tolerance ED values as determined by CBASS to enable meta-analyses and -comparisons.

As of 2026.04.19 major planned developments

  • improved user accounts
  • various UI changes
  • ability to upload processed ED/DW data

Release Notes

This release delivers a major update across the coral data platform, including a new ED50 processing service, improved upload and project workflows, and a significantly refreshed frontend experience.

Key Features

  • Added a dedicated ED50 FastAPI service with R-based processing (CBASSED50) and result visualization support.
  • Introduced a full ED50 Calculator page in the React app and improved upload flow integration.
  • Improved project detail and cart workflows, including better thermal data display and filtering behavior.
  • Added attachment/publication model and metadata enhancements (authors, journal, links) with supporting migrations.

Backend Improvements

  • Refactored and extended Django API endpoints and data merge logic for ED metrics.
  • Improved data import pipeline (populate_db, mappers, validation helpers).
  • Added/updated multiple migrations for thermal metrics, attachments, cart entities, and publication fields.
  • Strengthened admin and project management capabilities.

Frontend Improvements

  • New and updated pages:
    • ED50Calculator
    • UploadDataPage
    • ProjectDetailPage
    • ProjectsPage
    • HomePage
    • LoginPage
  • Enhanced sidebar filtering UX and temperature filter modal.
  • Improved map markers, cart interactions, and project detail presentation.

DevOps features

  • Updated Docker configuration for Django, React, and ED50 service orchestration.
  • Added build scripts and dependency updates for both backend and frontend stacks.
