Resilient Estuaries of the Salish Sea_Mapping Data

Description

SeaChange Marine Conservation Society has been collecting data in small to medium sized estuaries of the Salish Sea alongisde many project partners as part of the Resilient Estuaries of the Salish Sea (RESS) Project. Data were collected between April 2023 to March 2026.

Habitat Map Shapefiles and Sheets: This data set is a point file showing GPS trackline data collected by SeaChange during underwater tow camera surveys. This dataset is time-synchronized with SeaChange underwater tow camera videos and linked by a unique date-time code (yyyymmddhhmmss) so that all imagery can be linked to a spatial location. The imagery is used to categorize each GPS datapoint into underwater habitat categories based upon substrate and dominant algae species. Mapped features include habitat categories, biological attributes of note, anthropogenic debris, and additional comments.

Other SC Shapefiles: Other SeaChange shapefiles used throughout the Resilient Estuaries of the Salish Sea project

Web App Layers: A list of layers found on our public RESS ArcGIS maps: Bckground data collection (https://arcg.is/1a0v1v2) and RESS activities (https://arcg.is/1Hmi1X2)

All data were collected using funds from the British Columbia Salmon Restoration and Innovation Fund (BC SRIF) and the Aquatic Ecosystems Restoration Fund (AERF) through Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
