Dataset - Diamond Open Access in the Finnish Scholarly Publishing Landscape

This dataset has been created for the study Pölönen, J. & Laakso, M. (2026) "Diamond Open Access in the Finnish Scholarly Publishing Landscape". The dataset consists of information about 2456 serials published in Finland included in the JUFO-portal: https://jfp.csc.fi/jufoportal

The dataset contains following information:

• Jufo_ID: Unique identifier of puclication channels in JUFO-portal: https://jfp.csc.fi/jufoportal
• Name: Name of serial on JUFO-portal: https://jfp.csc.fi/jufoportal
• JUFO Level 1: 1 = channel is classified by experts to JUFO-level 1, 2 or 3
• Peer-reviewed outputs 2022-2024: 1 = at least 1 peer-reviewed output published in 2022-2024 has been reported in by Finnish institutions to VIRTA Publication Information Service 
• Publisher type: One of  four publisher types identiefied: commercial, educational, society, other
• Start year: Start year of serial registered in the International ISSN centre
• OECD main field: OECD main field identified based on the JUFO evaluation panel
• Language of serial: Publication language coded based on the the International ISSN centre data: English; Finnish, Swedish, Sami; Multilingual
• Peer-reviewed outputs 2022-2024: Number of peer-reviewed outputs published 2022-2024 reported by Finnish institutions to the VIRTA Publication Information Service
• English (peer-reviewed outputs 2022-2024): Number of peer-reviewed outputs in English published 2022-2024 reported by Finnish institutions to the VIRTA Publication Information Service
• Finnish (peer-reviewed outputs 2022-2024): Number of peer-reviewed outputs in Finnish published 2022-2024 reported by Finnish institutions to the VIRTA Publication Information Service
• Swedish (peer-reviewed outputs 2022-2024): Number of peer-reviewed outputs in Swedish published 2022-2024 reported by Finnish institutions to the VIRTA Publication Information Service
• Other languages (peer-reviewed outputs 2022-2024): Number of peer-reviewed outputs in other languages published 2022-2024 reported by Finnish institutions to the VIRTA Publication Information Service
• Open access: 1=Open access in publisher service; 2=Open access via self-archiving
• Diamond OA: 1=Diamond open access
• Serial type: 0=journal; 1=book series
