De la realidad a la leyenda: el sillón del diablo

El artículo analiza la leyenda del llamado sillón del diablo, conservado en el Museo Provincial de Valladolid (España), desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar que combina historia, folklore y estudios culturales. Partiendo de las teorías sobre lo inquietante formuladas por Jentsch y Freud, el texto explora cómo los objetos cotidianos pueden adquirir una dimensión liminal al situarse entre la materialidad y la subjetividad. El sillón, asociado a la figura del médico Andrés de Proaza y un supuesto pacto diabólico para obtener conocimiento, se convierte en un objeto maldito cuya existencia material refuerza su poder. La leyenda se contextualiza en el marco universitario del Renacimiento, marcado por el recelo hacia las disecciones anatómicas. Finalmente, se subraya el valor moralizante y cultural de la leyenda, subrayando cómo la silla encarna tensiones entre saber y transgresión, fe y ciencia. Todo ello utiliza el miedo y lo sobrenatural para advertir contra los atajos hacia el conocimiento.
