DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM INFRASTRUCTURE AND ITS REGIONAL ECONOMIC EFFICIENCY
Description
This article examines the development of tourism infrastructure and its impact on regional economic efficiency. Tourism infrastructure is interpreted as a комплекс system that includes transport networks, accommodation facilities, public utilities, digital connectivity, recreational spaces, and institutional support mechanisms. The study argues that the level of infrastructure development significantly influences the competitiveness of tourist destinations, the volume of tourist flows, the quality of services, and the economic returns generated at the regional level. Special attention is given to the role of infrastructure in improving accessibility, increasing visitor satisfaction, extending the length of stay, and stimulating employment and entrepreneurial activity. The article also analyzes the relationship between tourism infrastructure and territorial development. It is emphasized that infrastructure investment creates both direct and indirect economic effects. Direct effects include higher tourism revenues, growth in local business activity, and job creation in tourism-related sectors. Indirect effects are reflected in improved regional connectivity, modernization of public services, support for small enterprises, and stronger integration between urban and rural areas. At the same time, the study underlines that the economic efficiency of tourism infrastructure depends not only on the scale of investment, but also on planning quality, sustainability, local resource integration, and governance capacity. The findings show that regions achieve higher economic efficiency when tourism infrastructure is developed in an integrated and destination-specific manner. Well-planned infrastructure increases the ability of regions to transform tourism potential into stable income, competitive advantage, and long-term socio-economic growth. Therefore, tourism infrastructure should be considered a strategic regional development factor rather than a narrow sectoral component of the tourism industry alone.
