Strengthening Taxonomic Capacity through Education and Training in Europe

Taxonomy underpins biodiversity monitoring, environmental protection, and biosecurity. Yet, Europe faces a critical shortage of taxonomic expertise and declining infrastructure. Without urgent action, this gap will weaken EU conservation efforts, delay environmental assessments, and increase vulnerability to biodiversity loss and emerging risks.
