Potential nature contributions to people in the Neusiedl Lake region
Authors/Creators
Description
This upload contains several spatial layers of potential nature contributions to people (NCP). These layers are mostly derived from existed, openly available inputs (see references) and harmonized for further analysis. These layers are potential estimates, mostly obtained from Earth observation data and have not been independently validated.
They can be useful as input in (cross-realm) systematic conservation planning studies, such as the one conducted as part of the Biodiversa+ funded INSPIRE project.
The included layers contain in the latest version (1.0):
- Above Ground Biomass Carbon (AGBC) estimates for all Forest areas in Study region (see screenshot). The data are derived from the JRC Forest biomass map (see references) with units in Mg ha-1 GBC.
- Soil organic Carbon estimates in a depth from 0 to 200 cm below ground. Units are in Mg ha-1.
- Surface water seasonal availability as strong predictor of (nature-)tourism activity. Units are in months, with 12 indicating permance throughout the year. Data from Pekel et al. (see references).
- Farmland small woody elements on farmlands as indicators of farmland heterogeneity. Units are in fractions of small woody-elements. Data from a range of sources including Forest maps and small-woody landscape feature maps at high resolution.
- Potential natural pest control and pollinator supply based on a distance calculation from the field margin to semi-natural landscape elements. Units normalized to a range from 0 to 1 (unitless).
