A Semi-Empirical Model for Galaxy Rotation Curves
Description
This study presents a simple and effective mathematical model to describe galaxy rotation curves. The proposed model uses only two parameters — maximum velocity (Vmax) and scale radius (Rs) — and successfully fits observed galaxy rotation data with low error (<5%).
Additionally, a power-law relation between Vmax and Rs is observed:
Vmax ∝ Rs^0.45
This result suggests a fundamental scaling relationship between galaxy size and rotational velocity.
