Cross-Layer UE–Base Station Dataset for Handover Analysis
Authors/Creators
Description
This dataset consists of radio measurement and mobility data collected from both the network (gNB) and user equipment (UE) perspectives during multiple drive tests conducted between two sites near the University of Utah. The sites are equipped with commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) radio units, and measurements were obtained using Nemo (Keysight) tools and gNB logs.
The dataset is provided as two separate files:
1. gNB-side measurements
This file contains network-side radio information with the following columns:
timestampcurrent_pci(serving cell ID)neighbor_pciserving_rsrpneighbor_rsrp
2. UE-side measurements
This file contains device-side measurements along with location data:
TimeLatitudeLongitudePhysical cell identity (NR)(serving PCI)Physical cell identity (NR neighbor)RSRP (NR SpCell)RSRP (NR neighbor)
Together, these files provide complementary views of radio conditions and mobility events, supporting analysis of handover behavior and signal quality in outdoor vehicular scenarios.
The dataset can be used to evaluate and optimize mobility parameters (e.g., time-to-trigger) and to study issues such as unnecessary or “ping-pong” handovers along vehicle trajectories.
