Superfamily Acridoidea MacLeay, 1821

Acridoidea belongs to Orthoptera and is the largest superfamily within Caelifera, as well as the most diverse group within it. Acridoidea comprises 11 families: Acrididae, Dericorythidae, Lathiceridae, Lentulidae, Lithidiidae; Ommexechidae; Pamphagidae; Pamphagodidae; Pyrgacrididae; Romaleidae; Tristiridae) comprising 45 subfamilies (Song et al., 2018), To date, a total of 8,301 valid species have been recorded worldwide (By September 26, 2025). https://orthoptera.speciesfile.org/.
