Description
In 2024, the European Space Agency outlined its Earth Observation Science Strategy for Earth Action, focused on unlocking the full potential of Earth Observation for the benefit of society, from research to policy. EarthCODE operationalises this agenda by building the European EO open science ecosystem, enabling scientists to publish, discover, and build upon research outputs. This paper presents EarthCODE as an operational model for reusable EO research, illustrated through examples of catalogue-linked experiments, analysis-ready thematic data cubes, and advancements for workflow portability across federated cloud platforms. It describes the Open Science Catalogue and the wider ecosystem supporting this approach.
