Description

Abstract
As humanity grapples with unprecedented environmental, social, and economic crises, modern approaches to sustainability often overlook the inner dimensions of human behavior. This paper explores the ancient Indian value system through the paradigm of the fire-ritual of Yagya, based on the discourses of Revered Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya. Far beyond a mere physical ritual, Yagya has a profound philosophical framework. By examining the physical and subtle virtuous conduct of the Yagyagni (fire of Yagya), this paper maps its six fundamental teachings to modern principles of global sustainability. These teachings advocate for inner enlightenment, diligent action, moral elevation, universal equality, minimalism, and altruistic distribution. The paper further discusses how adopting a yagyiya jivan (life in conformity with Yagya) can lead to the awakening of virtuous tendencies, environmental refinement, and holistic social reformation, thereby offering a foundational blueprint for achieving sustainable, heaven-like conditions on Earth.
