Description

# Otway Shore Platform MEM Dataset

## Overview
This dataset contains Micro-Erosion Meter (MEM) measurements collected from shore platforms along the Otway Coast, Victoria, Australia, between 2011 and 2024. The dataset supports analysis of shore platform downwearing dynamics and multiscale variability.

## Data Description
The dataset is structured hierarchically:
- Platforms (e.g., Lorne, Marengo)
- Sites (nested within platforms)
- Points (MEM bolt locations)
- Time (repeated measurements)

## Variables
- Platforms: Platform identifier
- Sites: Site identifier
- Points: MEM bolt location
- Time.Years: Time of observation (years)
- Erosion.Rates: Downwearing rate (mm/yr)
- Mean.Elevation.AHD: Elevation (m)
- Mean.Slope: Platform slope (degrees)
- Mean.Tidal.Height: Tidal height (m)
- Distance.of.Bolt.Sites: Distance along profile (m)
- Morphological.Category: Platform zone classification
- Seasonal.Category: Season of observation
- Vertical.Conditions: Wetting–drying conditions
- Vertical.Zones: Tidal zonation

## Methods Summary
Measurements were obtained using a Micro-Erosion Meter (MEM) following standard protocols. Repeated measurements were conducted at fixed bolt locations to quantify surface downwearing.

## Usage Notes
- Negative values indicate accretion; positive values indicate erosion.
- Data are suitable for multilevel statistical modelling and time-series analysis.
- Missing values are present and should be handled appropriately.

## Data Availability
This dataset is part of an ongoing PhD project. Data are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.
