The Bespoke Paradox Automated Discovery and the Irreducibility of Contextual Intelligence A Sovereign Methodology for Post-Industrial Combinatorial Research

Description

Abstract
We introduce the Bespoke Paradox: the observation that automated meta-algorithms
generate not universal solutions, but hyper-specific, non-transferable local optima that
exceed in number and diversity the human bespoke methods they claim to transcend.
Analysing the recent AlphaEvolve work on Ramsey number lower bounds (Nagda,
Raghavan & Thakurta, 2026), we verify independently all five reported improvements while
demonstrating that proprietary infrastructure was unnecessary for the mathematical results.
The paper frames this episode as a decoherence state in science homeostasis—a failure of
the self-regulating mechanisms that should balance novelty-seeking against replication,
transparency, and stewardship. We propose a diagnostic framework grounded in the
General Theory of Regulated Stability (GTRS) and Ecological Homeostasis (EH)
architectures, identifying the specific attractor deformation (success-oriented epistemology)
that drives the pathology. The analysis offers a constitutional framework for Sovereign
Mathematical Discovery: a methodology that embraces the irreducibility of contextual
intelligence while maintaining rigorous Glassbox transparency.
