Tephra Fallout Load and Thickness

Description
This dataset contains two shapefiles representing modeled tephra fallout. The simulations are based on the probabilistic hazard assessment developed by Massaro et al. 2023, which investigates long-term tephra fallout from the Neapolitan volcanic district, including Somma–Vesuvius, Campi Flegrei, and Ischia. Numerical simulations were performed using the FALL3D (v8.0).
Meteorological conditions were derived from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts ERA5 reanalysis dataset, ensuring realistic atmospheric variability. The eruptive source parameters were stochastically sampled from literature-defined scenarios representative of medium–high magnitude eruptions at Campi Flegrei (e.g., Agnano–Monte Spina-type events).
The dataset includes:
- a shapefile of tephra load at ground (kg/m²)
- a corresponding shapefile of deposit thickness (m), derived assuming a bulk deposit density of 1000 kg/m³, equivalent to a maximum thickness of approximately 0.6 m.
Together, these layers provide a consistent representation of tephra fallout intensity and accumulation, suitable for hazard assessment, impact studies, and risk analysis applications.
