Gender Gap Report – Republic of Lebanon 2025
Authors/Creators
Description
his report is part of the Arab Countries Gender Gap Reports Series – 2026 Edition, developed by the Research and Studies Unit at Professional Tools for Training & Capacity Building.
It provides an institutional analytical assessment of the Republic of Lebanon’s performance in the Global Gender Gap Index 2025, published by the World Economic Forum. The analysis examines gender disparities across four dimensions: Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment.
Lebanon ranks 136th globally out of 148 countries, with an overall score of 0.632, indicating that approximately 63.2% of the gender gap has been closed.
The report reveals a structurally unbalanced performance: relatively strong outcomes in education and health, contrasted with weaker economic participation and critically low political empowerment. The findings highlight a gap between human capital formation and its translation into economic participation, income generation, and institutional representation.
The report situates these findings within broader structural and institutional constraints affecting women’s participation and concludes that improving outcomes requires strengthening the linkage between education, economic activity, and decision-making structures.
