An Exploration of Retirees' Reintegration in Bridging Healthcare Workforce Shortage in Africa
Authors/Creators
Description
This is a study seeking to explore the possibility of retirees filling the gap in the healthcare workforce due to the slow absorption of trained workforce into the labour market. Universities and other training institutions in Africa produce a large number of trained workers daily, but the current systems are not in a position to absorb them, at least not at an acceptable pace. This may be caused by a lack of funding to hire new workers, bureaucratic systems, and other issues. As much as these may be viable reasons, the population still requires healthcare in the midst of this crisis. This study looks into the possibility of retirees filling this gap and even providing more value, such as mentorship and coaching, while filling this gap.
