Dataset of a multi-criteria analysis for evaluation of CO2 point sources as locations for Power-to-Gas plants with biological methanation in Germany

Description

The dataset presented here contains the results of an evaluation of CO2 point sources as potential sites for Power-to-Gas plants with biological methanation in Germany. For further information, please refer to the corresponding publication.

The information provided in this dataset has been compiled with care. However, we assume no liability for the accuracy, completeness, quality, or timeliness of the information. Use of the content is at the user’s own risk.

The location data was compiled from various sources, supplemented with data from geoinformation services and processed for the purpose of evaluating CO2 point sources [1–7]. The accuracy of individual data points in the input data was not verified separately.

To identify individual facilities for all CO2 point sources considered, the dataset includes a fid number, latitude (Lat) and longitude (Lon) as specified in the source, as well as a value determined using the nearest neighbor method, which may differ slightly (Nearest Lat; Nearest Lon), if the coordinates could not be assigned to a NUTS3 region within the study area. Furthermore, the District key and District and the type of CO2 source under consideration (Technology) are provided.

To evaluate the CO2 Sources, for each facility, a Weighted industry-specific value, a Regional-specific value, a Weighted regional-specific value and a Total score are specified. Based on statistical values, a possible production capacity in kW of Synthetic Natural Gas for a biomethanation plant, is calculated for each facility (Possible SNG generation in kW).
