Acoustic Decipherment of the Nazca Lines: Evidence for Harmonic Encoding and Cross-Civilization Frequency Standardization

The Nazca Lines of southern Peru (200 BCE - 600 CE) have resisted definitive interpretation since their discovery. This paper presents the first acoustic analysis of the major zoomorphic geoglyphs, demonstrating that these structures encode specific frequencies through their physical dimensions. Applying open-channel resonance calculations to five published animal geoglyphs (hummingbird, spider, monkey, condor, and whale), we find that all five structures encode F#6 (1478 Hz) within a 6 Hz margin (0.4% maximum error) through harmonic overtones. Additionally, multiple structures encode the base frequency D#2 (77.78 Hz) previously identified in Proto-Elamite and Phaistos Disc notation systems. These findings establish acoustic function for the Nazca Lines and provide cross-civilization corroboration spanning 3,400 years and three continents, suggesting a shared acoustic notation system among ancient civilizations.
