String Processing in R

This tutorial introduces string processing in R using the stringr package, covering text manipulation operations including concatenation, splitting, replacement, pattern matching, and common text cleaning techniques. It is aimed at researchers in corpus linguistics, digital humanities, and the social sciences who need to prepare text data for analysis. This tutorial is part of the Language Technology and Data Analysis Laboratory (LADAL), a free, open-access research infrastructure at the University of Queensland. LADAL provides tutorials, tools, and courses for researchers working with language data.
