AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF SNAYUGATA VATA IN KURPARA SANDHI W.S.R TO TENNIS ELBOW-A SINGLE CASE STUDY

Description
Tennis elbow is the condition where the patient suffers pain in the elbow joint. Present generation are actively engaging in various strenuous activities in their life, Where the people used to play games, ride a motor cycle and lifting the weights. In such a scenario the pain in the elbow joint making them difficult to perform their daily activities. The injury or the strain pattern makes the restriction of the moment in the joint. In Ayurveda it can be correlated to Snayugata vata affecting the Kurpara sandhi (elbow joint). The aggravated vata lodges in the Kurpara sandhi and causing the symptoms like Shoola (Pain), Sthmbha (Stiffness), Akshepana (spasm) and Sankocha (Contraction). Though the Tennis elbow is explained as self-limiting disease as it subsides over a period of 6 months to two years. But the effective treatment can definitely reduce the symptoms and helps an individual to do his daily activities. A 30 years male patient came to the outpatient department of Kayachikitsa with a complaint of pain in the right elbow joint and difficult to perform his regular activities for one year. He was treated with Upanaha (local application) of Dasamula Kwatha and Kottamchukadi churna and Matra vasti with Bala Ashwagandha tail for 7 days. Along with Maha yoga Raj Guggulu and cap. Guggulu tikta ghritha, and Tab. Laghusuta Sekhar ras, cap. Ksheera Bala taila 101 were used for a period of one month. He was observed by taking both subjective and objective parameters. For every 15 days he was assessed to note his progress. He was improved very well and study shown better results in managing the symptoms with easy applicability and cost effectiveness.
