Description

The OSPO-RADAR project will develop the technical tooling to enable Academic Open-Source Programme Offices (OSPOs) to efficiently archive, manage, and showcase their institutions' software productions. This will elevate research software to a first-class research output and enable an evidence-based approach to software development. Built on the integration with Software Heritage, the portal will offer enhanced metadata management, streamlined workflows, and institutional visibility, fostering a sustainable ecosystem for open-source software management.

OSPO-RADAR has received funding from the Sloan Foundation under Grant Agreement no. 2025-25188.

About the workshop

The workshop brought together 8 participants from a mix of roles involved in managing, curating, and using research software. Represented communities included OSPO practitioners, research software engineers, open science practitioners, and metadata and infrastructure stakeholders.

Objectives

The workshop aimed to:

  • Improve data consistency, usability, and user workflows in the OSPO-RADAR
    dashboard
  • Produce actionable recommendations for implementation
  • Answer the core research question: What metadata is most relevant when working
    with software assets?
