Description

In this paper, the main objective is to study the influence of parameters including lubrication/cooling mode (pure MQL and nanofluid MQL), cutting speed, and feed rate on the cutting force component Fz during the milling process of Hastelloy C276 alloy. The influence of input parameters was studied by using the factorial experimental design. The experimental results showed that the feed rate caused the most dominant influence on the cutting force component Fz, followed by the lubrication/cooling mode. Furthermore, the interaction between cutting speed and feed rate significantly impacts on Fz. MQL condition using Al2O3 nano cutting oil provide better lubrication and cooling compared to MQL using the based oil without nanoparticles. Based on experimental results, the nanofluid MQL with the cutting speed v = 30 m/min and feed rate f = 0.08 mm/tooth should be selected to achieve the lower cutting force Fz values.
