Description

Mylabris (Mylabris) kodymi Mařan, 1944

Nomenclatural Authority: Bologna (2020).

Literature Records: Bologna (1994).

Specimen Records: 10 NHMC.

Range: Endemic species (Bologna 2020).

Notes:There are records of Mylabris (Mylabris) quadripunctata (Linnaeus, 1767) and Mylabris (Mylabris) variabilis (Pallas, 1781) from Crete, but these records are most likely misidentifications of M. kodymi as noted in Bologna (1994).

Nomenclatural Authority: Bologna (2020).

Range: Widespread species (Bologna 2020).

Notes: There is a record of this species on iNaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/112191913) from Crete and M. Bologna (personal communication) has confirmed that this is the correct species. This will be a new record for Crete, but the lack of a physical specimen precludes us from making it official.
