Acromantis Saussure, 1870: 229. Type species (original designation): Acromantis formosa Saussure, 1870 (= Mantis oligoneura De Haan, 1842). Diagnosis. Body medium-sized, with female larger and more robust (Figs. 1, 4). Body greenish to brown. Head triangular, antennae filiform, vertex with or without process; eyes large and rounded, ocelli oval; lower frons transverse, dorsal margin obtusely angled, with a small tubercle (Fig. 2C, D). Pronotum slender and elongate, with sparse tubercles on lateral margin, except at supracoxal dilatation. Dorsal margin of forecoxae armed with sparse tubercles (Fig. 2A, B, G, H); dorsal edge of fore femora dilated, with one or two lobes. Meso- and metathoracic legs shorter than forelegs, femora with one preapical lobe (Fig. 2E, F, K, L), some species with one additional proximal lobe. Forewings narrow, apex rounded; hind wings triangular, apex truncated with a minute lobe (Fig. 1). Abdomen long and narrow in males and more ovoid in females, sternites V and VI with vertical sternal lobes. Male subgenital plate with short styli (Fig. 6C).
