Description

Genus Centruroides Marx, 1890

Diagnosis according to Esposito et al. (2017; 2018) and Armas et al. (2012): Centruroides display a colouration ranging from uniform yellow to uniform black and may be patterned or mottled. Specimens measure between 35– 145 mm in total length. Pedipalp orthobothriotaxic A; chela digits of the pedipalp have seven to nine primary rows of granules closely flanked by accessory denticles prolaterally and retrolaterally. Leg I with a forked pedal spur; patella of the pedipalp with prodorsal and proventral carinae converging toward the mid-segment. Metasoma is linear with parallel sides; it does not increase in width posteriorly. The metasoma is elongated and narrow in males, longer than the prosoma and mesosoma combined.
