Sinoxylon angolense Lesne, 1906: 507.
Type material examined: Sinoxylon angolense HT (MNHN).
Diagnosis. Short, elytra lighter 1/2 to 2/3 anterior and darker at 1/3 posterior, scutellum medium size. Elytral declivity without marginal tubercles, declivital suture slightly raised and juxtasutural spines inserted above the middle level of declivity and away from the suture at short distance, divergent, regularly conical, with very pointed, more or less downward tip, the base rugose, smooth and shining below the teeth.
BODY short, parallel-sided, length 3.5–4.5mm, about twice as long as wide. Head, pronotum and underside black, pronotum tinted with red on the disc, elytra reddish brown, tibiae brown, antennae and tarsi red. Elytra usually lighter 1/2 to 2/3 anterior and darker at 1/3 posterior.

Eyes small, raised posteriorly. Frons granulate, quadridentate more or less strong, covered by moderately dense and long setae inclined centrally, longer and erect on sides. Fronto-clypeal suture indistinct. Clypeus sparse granulose with sparse, short, appressed setae, anterior margin single V form (Fig.9).
PRONOTUM subrectangular, almost parallel sided. Anterior angle with a slightly recurved tooth, posterior angel rounded; posterior area of pronotum covered by small, rounded, flattened granule. Vestiture of short, sparse, appressed setae, longer on lateral areas.
SCUETTLUM median size, tongue shape.
ELYTRA basal margin cariniform with or without granulose. Punctation of disc and lateral areas moderately strong, larger toward posteriorly, well separated. Vestiture of moderately dense, appressed setae on disc, longer and recurved on lateral and posterior areas. Elytral declivity without marginal tubercles, no depression near the suture; punctation of upper 1/2 distinct, moderately strong, tiny and shallow on below part attenuated toward apex; vestiture of distinct appressed setae; below transverse ridge distinct. Declivital suture slightly raised and attenuated apically. Juxtasutural spines inserted above the middle level of declivity and away from the declivital suture at short distance, divergent, regularly conical, with very pointed, more or less downward tip, the base rugose, smooth and shining below the teeth. Sutural angel slightly projecting. Post-epipleuron gradually, slightly widen from external angle to apex.
