Gender Gap Report – Republic of Tunisia 2025: A Structural and Institutional Analysis Based on the Global Gender Gap Report 2025 Arabic Verssion

This report provides a structural and institutional analysis of Tunisia’s performance in the Global Gender Gap Index 2025, published by the World Economic Forum.

The analysis examines gender disparities across four key dimensions: Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment. Tunisia ranks 123rd globally with an overall score of 0.654, indicating that approximately 65.4% of the gender gap has been closed.

The findings reveal a clear structural imbalance. While Tunisia demonstrates relatively strong outcomes in education and health, economic participation remains constrained and political empowerment shows uneven and limited institutional accumulation.

The report introduces an institutional interpretation of the “conversion gap”, highlighting the disconnect between women’s achievements in education and health and their translation into labour market participation, earned income, leadership roles, and sustained political influence.

In addition to dimension-based analysis, the report incorporates contextual indicators related to labour market structure, economic leadership, access to resources, and the civil and social environment, offering a comprehensive understanding of gender inequality dynamics in Tunisia.

The study concludes with analytically grounded policy directions aimed at strengthening institutional pathways that link human capital to economic and political outcomes.
