Developing Governance, Standards and Open-Source Tools for Synthetic Data in Trusted Research Environments

The UK Synthetic Data Community Group, funded by DARE UK, was established to develop a set of governance recommendations, co-developed through a series of stakeholder workshops. From this work, we created the VSTAR Framework - recommendations for Trusted Research Environments to create and share synthetic datasets in sensitive data research. Additionally, Dementias Platform UK Data Portal has been implementing this framework and developing tools and their data management processes to be able to support synthetic data for a range of use cases.
