Description

Mozambique has experienced significant development challenges since gaining independence in . The country's legal framework is a critical aspect of its governance, yet it faces numerous challenges that hinder effective implementation and enforcement. The analysis is conducted through a case study approach, examining existing laws and regulations in these fields, supplemented with interviews with key stakeholders including judges, lawyers, and community leaders. Findings indicate that while Mozambique has made strides in adopting international humanitarian law standards, the implementation of land tenure reforms remains inconsistent across different regions, often leading to disputes and conflicts. The legal framework in Mozambique is a mixed bag of effective and ineffective policies. The inconsistencies observed suggest areas where policy reform could lead to more equitable and sustainable outcomes. Recommendations include strengthening judicial training programmes to ensure consistent application of international law, advocating for comprehensive land tenure reforms that address regional disparities, and enhancing public awareness campaigns to improve compliance with existing laws.
